Fredrick “Fred” C. Neumann, 80, of Dowagiac, passed away, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan.

Fred was born May 6, 1936 in Chicago, to Fredrick & Mildred (Regan) Neumann. He graduated from Dowagiac Central High School in 1956, later that same year he married Shirley Ely. Fred served in the National Guard for several years. He owned and operated The Neumann Oil Company in downtown Dowagiac for over 30 years. Fred was known to be a very hard working and generous man. He would often deliver oil to a family that was in need and pay for it out of his own pocket.

Fred is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Brad Neumann of Dowagiac; daughter, Carrie (Jennings Brosnan) Neumann of Dowagiac; granddaughter, Caitlon Pauley; great-granddaughter, Lauren Jones; sister, Marlene (Greg) Schoo of Grayling, Michigan; sister-in-law, Cindy Neumann and a brother in law, Ross (Patty) Neumann

He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Ed (Cheryl) Neumann; and a brother in law, Doug Ely.
