‘Next to Normal’ is a fantastic show

We had a most incredible experience of theater Sunday afternoon at Twin City Players’ production of the Tony award winning musical Next to Normal.

This show is extremely engaging – a beautiful, thoughtful, at times painful, but in the end uplifting experience. Next to Normal is one of the finest musical theater productions we have ever seen.

The cast is superb – each character beautifully portrayed and the singing….magnificent! The musicians were an integral part of this production, carrying the storyline along and doing justice to the Tony-awarded score. Paul Mow’s direction showed a mastery of the bold and subtle, keeping the audience on the edge of our seats.

We were privileged to facilitate a Talk Back Q&A following the performance and were moved by comments and questions from performers and members of the audience. Twin City Players has been courageous in offering SW Michigan an opportunity to experience this insightful piece of work presented by a gifted ensemble.

We especially recommend this play for educators, social workers, doctors, nurses, counselors, and anyone else whose life has been touched, directly or indirectly, by mental illness.

Next to Normal runs through May 22, and tickets are still available.
