Edward Joseph Kezele, 94, a longtime resident of Chicago, passed away on May 7, 2016.

He was born in Calumet, Michigan, on June 19, 1921, to Joseph and Katherine Kezerle, and was raised as a youngster on a farm in Decatur.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and, following his service, attended college in Marquette. He subsequently became an automotive manufacturers representative.

Edward is survived by his sister, Helen Oliver, of Garden City, Michigan; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen Mary (Olejniczak); his brothers, Albert and Joe; and his sisters, Mary Mikulich, Katherine Kezerle and Ann Noonan.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, in the Newell Funeral Home, Decatur. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. that day at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac, with Father Kevin Covert as celebrant.

Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, with military rites conducted by VFW Celery City Post # 6248 and American Legion Post # 309 of Decatur.
