Clara Eleanor (Slocum) Evans, 85, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2016 at West Woods of Niles.

Clara was born on Nov. 13, 1930, to the late John and Edna (Ferry) Slocum in Galien, Michigan. On May 13, 1950, she married James Lawrence Evans at a ceremony in Angola, Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2004.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Sharon Evans; grandchildren, Angela Evans, David Lugardo, and Matthew Lugardo; great grandchildren, James Carrico, Samuel Carrico, Amber Lugardo, Mia Lugardo, Olivia Lugardo and Breanna Lugardo; great-great grandchild, Zane Lugardo; brother, Ben (Lu) Slocum; sisters, Jennie (Ed) Hoover and Laura “Joann” Just and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Larry James Evans; daughter, Ruth Arbaca; brothers, Kenard and John Slocum; sisters, Hilda Ridenour, Violet Hackeman, Helen Shepherd, Virginia Mason and grandson, Michael Lugardo.

Funeral services for Clara will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral from 11 a.m. to noon Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com
