Dowagiac rallied from a one-run deficit in the bottom of the eighth to earn a split with visiting Plainwell in Wolverine Conference baseball Thursday.

The Chieftains and Trojans were deadlocked at 3-3 after seven innings.

Dowagiac gave up a run in the top of the eighth, but Mack Charles doubled up the right field line to drive in the game-winning runs.

Charles also went the distance, scattering seven hits, in picking up the mound victory.

The Chieftains were not as fortunate in the nightcap, as a nine-run third inning by the Trojans propelled them to a 15-8 win over Dowagiac.

Charles was 4-for-4 in the first game with four RBIs. Collin Hassle also doubled for the Chieftains.

In the second game, Nick Foote was 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Austin Jones was 2-for-3 with a double. Charles also doubled and drove in a run.
