Bonnie L. (Bell) Modlin, 59, of Niles, passed away at West Woods of Niles on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Joe Bell and Norma Jean Johnson. After her mother’s passing, she was raised, along with her father, by Opal Bell.

Bonnie married Robert W. Modlin on Dec. 6, 1997, at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan.

A homemaker most of her life, Bonnie took great pride in the care of her home including cleaning and decorating. Time spent with family, especially her children and grandchildren, was most valuable, including fun times playing video games. Bonnie always looked forward to road trips and listening to music.

She is survived by her husband Robert W. Modlin of Niles, a son, Tom Slaughter of Niles, daughters; Heather (Sean) Haas of South Bend, Carey (Tony) Jaqua, Jessica and Melissa Modlin all of Niles, 10 grandchildren and two sisters, Aggie Sipocz and Ruth (Vince) Muntz both of Niles. She also leaves to remember her, Robert’s parents Bill and June Modlin of Niles, as well as countless other family members and friends whom she loved dearly.

In keeping with Bonnie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will remember her privately.
