Thank you, Brandywine voters!

On behalf of the Brandywine Board of Education, the staff, and our students, we are very grateful to the voters of the Brandywine Community Schools for voting for the Building and Site fund on Tuesday. Brandywine has always been about people from the community believing in the school. Those people who voted on Tuesday believe in our district, and we are thankful to be working for them.

Brandywine has a rich tradition of community support. From the very beginning, when people came together in the 1950s and early 1960s to create Brandywine, it has been the people who make this a strong community school. I often call those founding parents of Brandywine ordinary people who stepped up and did something extraordinary—they created a school district. The voters who supported us Tuesday fall in line with that tradition of commitment.

This ten year fund puts us in place to take care of our buildings and their structural needs. Roofs, parking lots, heating and cooling systems, floors, walls, windows, and doors can all be taken care of with these dollars. In turn, more dollars from our general fund that we have been using for this kind of work can now be freed up and used for other needed instructional tools, devices, and programs to address the needs of our students.

We have a set of beliefs we are committed to in our Strategic Plan. One of those beliefs is very simple:

“There will always be a Brandywine.”

Thanks again, voters, for sharing that belief and proving that belief true.
