Edwardsburg announces Top 10

Edwardsburg has announced its Top 10 graduates for 2016.

The Class of 2016 will be led by valedictorians Jonathan Albrecht, Makayla Long, Zachary Plummer and Malary Van Overberghe.

The salutatorian is Allison Richcreek.

 

Jonathan Albrecht

Albrecht is the son of Lynn and Kathy Albrecht of Edwardsburg. Albrecht has a 4.0 GPA. He is a member of the National Honor Society, S.A.D.D., and the EHS Jazz Band where he is the pianist. Co-captain of the varsity soccer team, Albrecht has played for four years and is an All-Wolverine Conference second team honors (2015) recipient.

 

Makayla Long

Long is the daughter of Bill and Kelly Long of Edwardsburg. Long has a 4.0 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society, S.A.D.D., yearbook staff and co-president of Edwardsburg Lions Club LEOs. Long is the head drum major of the EHS marching band, and a member of the symphonic band, jazz band, pep band, and pit orchestra.  She also participates in school musicals. Long is a 2016 Shining Star Award recipient from Leader Publications.

 

Zachary Plummer

Plummer is the son of Trace and Janet Plummer of Niles. Plummer has a 4.0 GPA. He is treasurer of the National Honor Society, secretary of Student Council, vice president of S.A.D.D., a member of the varsity chorale and yearbook staff. Plummer is the local and Regional 2016 DAR Good Citizen recipient.

 

Malary Van Overberghe

Van Overberghe is the daughter of Gary and Elizabeth Van Overberghe of Edwardsburg. Van Overberghe has a 4.0 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society, S.A.D.D. and equestrian team. As a captain and three-year member of the varsity tennis team, Van Overberghe has received several awards: MVP (2015), No. 2 doubles regional champion (2015) and state finalist MHSAA (2015).

 

Allison Richcreek

Richcreek is the daughter of Ken and Audrie Richcreek of Niles. Richcreek has a 3.98 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society and varsity chorale. As a participant in musicals, Richcreek’s recent theatre credits include: “Cinderella” (Cinderella), “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” (Hedy LaRue), “The Music Man” (Pick-a-little Lady), and “Phantom of the Opera” (Chorus).

 

Moriah Praklet

Praklet is the daughter of James and Melanie Praklet of Niles. Moriah has a 3.97 GPA. She is a Drum Major of the EHS Marching Band and also a member of the symphonic band, varsity chorale and National Honor Society. A participant in EHS plays and musicals, Moriah’s credits include: “Cinderella” (Madame), “A Christmas Carol” (Ghost of Christmas Past), “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” (Chorus), “Curious Savage” (Miss Wilhemina), “The Music Man” (Chorus), “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” (Chorus) and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” (Chorus).

 

Benjamin Shafer

Shafer is the son of Mark and Elaine Shafer of Niles. Benjamin has a 3.97 GPA. He is a National Merit Scholarship finalist and scholarship recipient. Shafer is a member of the National Honor Society, S.A.D.D., FIRST Robotics Team 2474 Excel, Science Olympiad team and a percussionist in the EHS Marching Band and pep band.

 

Frances Badur

Badur is the daughter of Jon and Sandra Badur of Edwardsburg. Frances has a 3.97 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society, S.A.D.D., EHS Marching Band, symphonic band and three-year captain of the color guard. Badur is also a captain of the varsity tennis team. Badur is also a captain of the varsity tennis team.

 

Benjamin Robertson

Robertson is the son of Bill and Diane Robertson of Edwardsburg. Robertson has a 3.95 GPA. He is President of the National Honor Society, class president, President of Student Council and a member of S.A.D.D. Robertson has earned the Academic Excellence Award and the Scholar Athlete Award for three years.

 

Carly Cockrum

Cockrum is the daughter of Keith and Carey Cockrum of Niles. Cockrum has a 3.95 GPA. She is a member of S.A.D.D., a captain and four-year member of the varsity track and field team and has played volleyball for the Eddies. Cockrum has earned Wolverine Conference honorable mention in track (2013, 2014 and 2015).
