Tennis roundup: Brandywine blanks Bronson; Bucks tie Shamrocks

Host Brandywine cruised to an 8-0 win over Bronson in BCS Athletic Conference tennis at Plym Park Monday.

The Bobcats’ toughest challenge came at No. 4 singles where Elizabeth Hartz needed three sets to defeat the Vikings’ Clare Mayes 4-6, 6-3 and 10-6.

 

Buchanan tennis

The Bucks and Berrien Springs played to a 4-4 draw in BCS Athletic Conference action Monday.

The Bucks split both the singles and doubles flights to force the tie.

 

Dowagiac tennis

Visiting Dowagiac was blanked 8-0 by Vicksburg in the final Wolverine Conference match of the season Monday.

The Chieftains finish the year 0-4 against conference teams, while Vicksburg is 2-1-1.

Sturgis won the Wolverine Conference South Division with a 3-0-1 record. Edwardsburg was second with a 1-0-2 record. Three Rivers finished fourth at 1-3.

The best match of the day came at No. 1 doubles where Anna Costanzo and Maria Guerra of Vicksburg defeated Kelly Rafferty and Kaley Brogan 6-4 and 6-3.

The Chieftains were defeated by visiting Berrien Springs in a non-conference match Friday.

The Shamrocks scored a 7-1 victory over the Chieftains at the Dowagiac Middle School courts.

Ally Hale and Arissa Geegan won in three sets 7-5, 1-6, 10-3.
