Niles ninth at SMAC golf tournament

AUGUSTA — The Niles golf team finished ninth at the SMAC Golf Tournament at Stonehedge in Augusta Monday.

Battle Creek Lakeview shot 312 to win the first round of the conference tournament, while Lakeshore was second with a 322.

Niles finished with a 367.

Logan Steffes of Lakeshore and Andrew Walker, who will attend Michigan State University on a golf scholarship, both shot 70 to share medalist honors.

Riley Delinski led the Vikings with an 83.

Jared Ham shot 89, Sam Kennedy 95, Alex Krueger 100 and Drew Rudlaff 122.
