Edwardsburg fighting for second in Wolverine golf race

ALLEGAN — The Wolverine Conference golf race has turned into a battle for second place thanks to defending champion Otsego.

The Bulldogs have won every jamboree so far this season and have a commanding 60-45 lead over runner-up Edwardsburg.

Otsego won the Allegan jamboree Monday at White Tail with a 158. Vicksburg was second with a 173, while Edwardsburg was fourth (179) and Dowagiac fifth (180).

The Chieftains currently stand sixth with 29 points.

The battle for second place is between Edwardsburg, Vicksburg (44 points), Sturgis (41) and Plainwell (40).

Otsego’s Tyler Rayman and Chase Drobny shared medalist honors Monday with a round of 38.

Edwardsburg’s Carter Goodson and Dowagiac’s David Brogan led their teams with identical 41s.

Goodson holds a slim lead over Rayman in the battle for conference medalist.

Goodson’s stroke average if 39.200, while Rayman’s is 39.333.
