Even more students will have an opportunity to experience the arts thanks to a donation from an anonymous Brandywine High School graduate to the non-profit Performing Arts Workshops.

August Garritano, of PAW, said the donation would cover the cost of tuition for all participants in the PAW Jr. and PAW Cubs workshops.

Those who register will still need to make a deposit at the time of registration, but Garritano said the deposit would be refunded (minus check processing fees) after the completion of the workshop.

Participants will have the option of donating all or part of the deposit back to PAW, which is now a non-profit entity with the State of Michigan.

“We are currently completing the necessary and time consuming process of becoming an official 501(c) 3 with the IRS, but U.S. tax code does permit us to operate as such even during the registration process,” Garritano said. “We have our own EID.”

Garritano said the amount of the donation would remain confidential at the request of the donor.

Performing Arts Workshops, now in its fifth year, provides experiences to grade school students, including summer day camp experiences and performance opportunities during the school year.
