Esther Iva Brown, 95, of Vicksburg, formerly of Cassopolis, died peacefully Sunday morning, April 17, 2016, at Bronson Commons in Mattawan, Michigan.

She was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Dowagia. She married Philo Edwin Brown March 31, 1940, in LaGrange Township. He preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1986, after nearly 46 years of marriage. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded by her sisters, Elsie Petcher and Nora Feirick.

Esther will be remembered for enjoying the simple things in life like reading, crocheting and gardening. She also enjoyed her traveling, especially up to the cabin at Wolf Lake in Baldwin, Michigan.

Esther will be greatly missed by family and friends. Left to honor her and remember her love are her two daughters, Elizabeth Reynolds, of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Linda (Marv) Inman of Vicksburg, Michigan; her son, Thomas (Marjorie) Brown of Portage, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Nina Aldrich, of Sturgis, Michigan, and Mary Makowski, of Niles, Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held for Esther at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Cassopolis. Rev. David Moffitt-Moore, of the Portage United Church of Christ, will officiate.

The family prefers contributions in Esther’s memory be made to West Michigan Cancer Center, 200 North Park St., Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007.
