The home of the South Bend Cubs, Four Winds Field, has become a regular host for several of our area baseball teams.

Niles, Brandywine and Edwardsburg have all played at Four Winds Field in the month of April.

Niles and Brandywine have made themselves right at home as they picked up wins against Shaker Heights Ohio and the Eddies this past weekend.

It may seem a bit odd that our high school teams are playing in a minor league ballpark when they have fields of their own.

The way I see it, what a nice perk for these teams to get a chance to let their players and fans have a chance to play at one of the nicest facilities in the Midway.

I know that they do not get to experience everything they would during a regular South Bend Cub game, but I have to believe that for many of them it will be a memory that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

I would also like to see more of our teams get a chance to travel south of the border and play at game at Four Winds Field.

Maybe there would be a way to have all six of the teams that Leader Publications covers to play their on a Saturday.

Maybe it could become an annual event with the teams playing each other on a rotating schedule.

It certainly would be interesting to see if that would be a possibility.
