Sturgis sweeps Dowagiac in Wolverine South opener

Visiting Sturgis swept Dowagiac baseball team in the Chieftains’ Wolverine Conference South opener Thursday.

The Trojans defeated Dowagiac 11-4 and 4-2.

In the opener, Austin Jones suffered the loss in relief of starter Elijah Williams.

Brenden Dudley doubled for the Chieftains, who fell to 4-4 overall.

In the nightcap, Mack Charles went the distance in suffering the loss.

The Chieftains managed just four hits off of a pair of Sturgis pitchers.
