Dowagiac soccer plays to 1-1 draw with Bangor

Kellyn Daly scored with less than seven minutes left to play to give Dowagiac a 1-1 draw in non-conference soccer Friday night.

Bangor scored the match’s only goal of the first half in the 16th minute.

Daly scored off an assist from Anayda Lucio in the 73rd minute.

Grace Younger had 16 saves for the Chieftains, who are now 0-1-1 on the year.

“A very nerve-racking, yet extremely exciting game to say the least,” Dowagiac coach Ryan Haines said. “Bangor has had our number the past two years, as they have defeated us 7-0 and 5-0 each year. This year we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The confidence is there, the communication, the soccer knowledge, everything. Grace Younger played lights out for us and made some incredible saves, even took a shot to the face in the game.

“The youngsters stepped up too, and are only going to keep improving.”
