Eddies move into second in Wolverine golf standings

PAW PAW — While Edwardsburg’s Carter Goodson captured his second straight Wolverine Conference medalist honor Wednesday, Otsego strengthened its grip on the early league lead.

The defending champion Bulldogs captured the second jamboree hosted by Paw Paw at Heritage Glen Golf Club by shooting 168.

Plainwell finished 10 strokes back in second with a 178, while Sturgis and Edwardsburg tied at 185. The Trojans earned third place based on the fifth-man scoring tiebreaker.

Dowagiac finished fifth with a 189.

Otsego now has a five-point lead over runner-up Edwardsburg in the overall standings. The Bulldogs have 20 points and the Eddies 15. Vicksburg is a point farther back in third. Dowagiac is fifth with 12 points.

Goodson shot 37 to edge Otsego’s Casey Syrek for medalist honors by a stroke.

Dowagiac was led by Justin Yamik, who finished with a 46.
