PORTAGE — Visiting Niles was no match for Portage Central in SMAC tennis Tuesday.

The Huskies swept the Vikings 8-0.

Portage Northern dropped just three games in sweeping the singles flights.

Niles soccer

The Niles soccer team was blanked by visiting Three Rivers 2-0 in non-conference action Tuesday.

The Wildcats scored a goal in each half against the Vikings.

Niles was able to keep Three Rivers out of the net for the first 20 minutes, but gave up a goal to Jamie Barrett in the 32nd minute and trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Going into the second half behind, the Vikings came out strong, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.

Izzy Taylor capped the scoring for the Wildcats late in the second half.

“Despite the loss, Jaycee Myer, Chelsea Best and Dayleigh Miller continued to feed key passes to the forwards and wide midfielders,” Niles coach Katie Czirr said.

Avy James had a total of 15 saves for the Vikings, 10 of which were inside of 18-feet.
