Niles lands four on All-West basketball teams

Niles senior Gavin Rasler was the lone selection for the Vikings on the SMAC All-West Division boys basketball team, which was announced recently.

Benton Harbor and Portage Northern both had three players named first team as they shared the division championship with Portage Central, which had a pair of players selected by the coaches.

Niles finished in a fifth place tie with St. Joseph.

Girls basketball

Despite finishing fourth in the final SMAC West Division girls basketball standings, Niles had three players named to the All-West Division squad.

Seniors Elyse Zimmerman, Jazmin Brann and Emily Gaines were all first team selections, which are choosen by the West Division coaches.

Division champion Lakeshore led the way with four selections, while St. Joseph, which was the runner-up to the Lancers, had a pair of players picked.
