WATERVLIET — Visiting Brandywine improved to 4-1 with a sweep of Watervliet in non-conference baseball Tuesday.

The Bobcats allowed just six hits on the day as Toby Fox and Mark Conrad both picked up mound victories.

Fox worked six innings, allowing one run on two hits with nine strikeouts and a walk. Chandler Plew worked the seventh inning, striking out three and walking one.

Vinny Peel and Hunter Janowiak both had two hits with Peel picking up a pair of RBIs.

In the nightcap, Conrad went the distance, allowing three unearned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Fox was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, while Joe Covyeou was 3-for-3 and Conrad 2-for-4 with an RBI.

 

Niles baseball

MISHAWAKA — Visiting Niles needed a three-run ninth inning to edge Mishawaka Marian in non-league baseball action Tuesday.

The Vikings (2-0) Jared Hainey doubled with one out in the top of the ninth and came around to score on a two-out single by Drew Huffman. Huffman and Bryce Lake, who walked, would score on a single by Austin Curran.

Curran picked up the win in relief as he was one of five Niles pitchers in the game.

Huffman finished with two hits, while Jacob Hamm and Hainey both doubled. Cody Glick also had two hits for the Vikings.

 

Dowagiac baseball

Dowagiac used a nine-run sixth inning to rally past visiting Decatur and earn a split in non-conference baseball at Rotary Park Tuesday.

The Chieftains (3-3) were blanked by the Raiders 5-0 in the opening game and trailed 2-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth.

Nick Foote took the loss in the opener. Mack Charles worked the final two innings for the Chieftains.

In the nightcap, Brenden Dudley pitched six full innings, allowing one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts.
Adrien Bucha-Moore pitched the seventh, allowing a run on three hits.

Dowagiac finished with eight hits, including doubles by Foote and Austin Jones. Foote, Dudley, Jones and Ethan Helmuth all drove in two runs.
