Cass County COA to host CSI mystery

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — On Thursday, April 21, the Cass County COA will host “D.O.A. at the C.O.A.,” a Crime Scene Investigation Mystery.

Led by Deputy MaKenzie Kreiner from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, participants will learn what real investigators do to solve a crime. Attendees will test their skills as they help investigate who killed Batman.

This fun and educational program will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. April 21, at the Lowe Center, 60525 Decatur Road, Cassopolis. Advance registration is required, as class size is limited. Contact Deputy MaKenzie Kreiner at (269) 445-8110 or mkreiner@casscoa.org to register.

 

Grant solicitation released for the Automobile Theft Prevention Authority

LANSING — The Automobile Theft Prevention Authority (ATPA) is currently accepting grant applications from law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, judicial agencies and nonprofit organizations for enforcement, prosecution, and community awareness and prevention programs aimed at reducing motor vehicle theft.

This grant is funded from assessments paid by insurance companies to the ATPA. Due to the limited funds available, a 50 percent cash match is required for all applicants, with the exception of nonprofit organizations. Funds must be utilized to enhance motor vehicle theft prevention efforts, not for supplanting current programs.

The fiscal year 2017 grant period will begin on Oct. 1, 2016, and end on Sept. 30, 2017.

Grant applications must be received by the ATPA no later than June 6, 2016.
