A weird start to spring sports

It is going to be a strange way to start the spring sports season.

With a handful of games scattered between last week and this week, it seems like we are only getting a taste of what is to come and then everyone will take a week off for spring break.

That is not the usual case.

When the weather cooperates, I usually get to see every team play prior to the break.

This year is similar to what happens at the beginning of winter sports when each team gets a contest or two in before heading off to the Christmas break.

I guess the good thing about this year is that teams have been able to get outside earlier and more frequently than they have in the past.

Thanks to some really nice weather in early March all of our sports teams should be ahead of the game when it comes to being prepared for competition.

I have been looking forward to spring sports for a while now because I believe that many of our teams will compete for division and conference championships asĀ  well as make some noise in the postseason.

So I cannot wait until after spring break to get into the heart of their schedules and get a really good feel for who is going to be a contender this season.

The other reason I look forward to spring sports is that after being cooped up in gymnasiums for the past four months, I am ready to get back outside.

Each of the three sports seasons brings something new and exciting to the table.

I am so ready to see what spring has to offer us.

Make sure you get out and support your local teams this spring. Most of the events are free and I can guarantee you will enjoy watching this young athletes perform at a high level.
