Bobcats win opening tournament

The Brandywine tennis team kicked off its season by winning its own invitational at the Niles Racquet Club Saturday.

The Bobcats won seven of the eight flights to finish with 22 points. Galesburg-Augusta was second with 14 points and Comstock with 11 points.

Winning flight championships for Brandywine were Shaylee Smith, Emily Erwin and Elizabeth Hartz in singles.

Comstock’s Taylor Wells won the title at No. 3 singles.

Doubles champions are Rachael Szilagyi and Alyssa Bolen, Libby Moody and Shelby Fortune, Hanna Martin and Olivia Whitney and Lauren Srmek and Madison Lucerio.

“A great way to start the season,” Brandywine coach Joe Marazita said.
