Keoante Blackamore is a senior on the Dowagiac basketball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

KB: Winning the conference championship this season against South Haven.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

KB: Losing the conference championship last season to Otsego.

What has been a hardship in your life?

KB: Family and friends in and out of jail and my life.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

KB: My father. He has been the only consistent thing all of my life, other than my breathing.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

KB: Never, always calm.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

KB: Air balling a free throw at the end of the conference championship game vs. South Haven.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

KB: Go to the weight room and get in the gym and get up a lot of shots.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

KB: Football. I regret not playing in high school.

Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?

KB: My father. I do not remember him missing a game the whole three years I’ve been on varsity.

How would you give away $50,000?

KB: To my family or to Flint, Michigan

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

KB: The Spurs. Easiest team to coach and they win a lot every year.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

KB: I have no idea what I would do or who I would be.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

KB: Keep a positive attitude everyday at practice.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

KB: Refs determining the outcome of the game, who is to say they are right.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

KB: “I want to be like you.”

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

KB: Talk to a girl when I was younger. Yes

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

KB: My teammates coming together to win vs. Benton Harbor.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

KB: Video games. It is all there is to do in Dowagiac.
