After four seasons, Floyd Foston has resigned as the Dowagiac girls basketball coach.

Dowagiac Athletic Director Brent Nate announced the resignation Monday.

“We appreciate the time and effort that coach Foston put into our girls basketball program,” Nate said. “Coach Foston gave his best effort for the program and was physically and emotionally invested into improving our program. We will look to find the best possible candidate for the position and will be looking to fill the position as soon as possible.”

Foston was 8-76 in his four years with the Chieftains, including 1-20 this past season.

Dowagiac’s season ended with a 75-26 loss to Benton Harbor in the Class B district semifinals.

“After four years, I just haven’t seen the program going in the right direction,” Foston said. “It was my intention of coming in and turning the program around. I have not done that and I thought maybe someone else could get it headed in the right direction.”
