Violet Lavina Wilson, 93, of Niles, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016.

Violet was born on Sept. 9, 1922, to the late Clyde and Zoa Virge in Ionia, Michigan. On June 1, 1940, Violet wed the late Charles Frederick Wilson, Sr. at a ceremony in Michigan City, Indiana. The two raised four children.

A homemaker most of her life, Violet was an avid gardener, loved crocheting and canning. She was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness on Oct. 29, 1950, and was a Bible teacher for more than 60 years. From the day of her baptism, Violet worked zealously telling others about the good news of God’s Kingdom, reaching hundreds of people. She also cherished time spent with family, especially their yearly family vacations and camping every year at “Turkey Run” in Brown County. Violet was blessed to travel many times internationally and was always enthusiastic about each adventure.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Virge and Zoa Weber; husband, Charles Wilson, Sr.; grandson, Travis Goodson; granddaughter, Dana Goodson; and siblings, Richard Virge, Laura Wright, Louise Graham, Gerald Weber, Robert Virge, and Geraldine McGee.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Albert) Fagley of La Porte, Indiana, Charles (Dorothy) Wilson, Jr. of Henry, Tennessee, Kathleen (Tim) Hart of Niles, and Wendy (Bruce) Goodson of Niles; grandchildren, Verne III (Debbie), Christopher (Lisa), Eric (Michelle), Shelley (Jeremy), Kelly (Jeff), Brandy (Mike), Joshua (Carla) and Seth (Joy); 18 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and sisters, Zoa Sharpe of La Porte, Indiana, and Elsa Erea of Valparaiso, Indiana.

Violet’s family will be hosting a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall located at 603 North 17th Street in Niles, Michigan on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 4 p.m. (Michigan time) with visiting hours from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. (Michigan time). Officiated by Michael McGee.
