Three arrested following Edwardsburg drug bust

A trio of suspects were arrested in connection with a joint drug raid by drug enforcement teams from Cass and St. Joseph counties Wednesday, according a release from the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team.

Kimberly McCartney, 48, Gary McCartney, 43 and Anthony Klein, 24, were all arraigned in Cass County District Court Thursday afternoon, on various methamphetamine and firearm-related charges.

The arrests stem from a search conducted at a residence in the 71000 block of M-62 in Ontwa Township by officers with the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team and the St. Joseph County Street Crimes Unit, based out of Indiana. The search, which occurred around 3 p.m. that afternoon, came as a result of warrant issued for the residence due to suspicion that the manufacture of methamphetamine was occurring there.

Upon searching the dwelling, detectives located multiple one-pot methamphetamine labs along with components used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Officers also discovered methamphetamine product and associated paraphernalia.

Several firearms were located as well, including seven long guns and two handguns. One of the handguns was found fully loaded in close proximity to the drugs and paraphernalia.

Both McCartneys were also arrested for warrants out of St. Joseph County, Indiana, also for charges relating to the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team was assisted on scene by the St Joseph County Indiana Street Crimes Unit, the St. Joseph County Indiana K9 unit and the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department.
