Theodore White, 34, was arraigned this week in Cass County District Court, where he was charged with a count of possession of a firearm by a felon. He is currently being held on $10,000 bond, along with a probation hold.

According to police, White was arrested after meeting with Dowagiac police officers, who were assisting probation officers with the Michigan Department of Corrections. While in contact with White, who was serving a term of felony probation at the time, police discovered he was in possession of an AR-style assault rifle and two loaded high-capacity magazines.

Due to the fact he was serving probation, and had a felony on his prior record, it was illegal for White to own a firearm or ammunition.

The Dowagiac man was taken into custody and lodged at Cass County Jail, for being in possession of the rifle and for violating probation.

Anyone with any further information about this matter is asked to contact the Dowagiac Police Department at (269) 782-9743.
