William Carl “Bill” Juroff, 75, of Waverly Hall, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus.

A memorial service was held 4 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department station in Ellerslie, Georgia, with the Rev. Donald Wolfgang officiating. The family received friends immediately following the service at the fire station.

Bill was born Oct. 31, 1940, in Dowagiac, Michigan, the son of John Juroff and Mary Parmeter Juroff. He was a 1959 graduate of Dowagiac High School and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Afterwards, he returned to Michigan where he attended technical school and worked for the DuWell Co. He worked over 12 years for the Otis Elevator Co., and then relocated to Tampa, Florida, where he worked for various businesses as a tool and die maker. He moved to Waverly Hall in 1995, and retired from Pratt & Whitney in Columbus.

Beginning in his youth, he held a deep passion for the fire department. For many years he served as a volunteer fireman, and continued this work as a First Responder with the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department and also the Waverly Hall Volunteer Fire Department. He was a very active member of Ellerslie United Methodist Church and served as a volunteer at the Begin Again Horse Farm in Ellerslie. Bill loved fishing, horses, tending to his chickens, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Juroff, a granddaughter, Krystal Weatherhead, and a great-granddaughter, Ava Qualls.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beverly Juroff, and his mother, Mary P. Juroff, both of Waverly Hall; three children, Tami Davis (Scott) of Waverly Hall; William Juroff, Jr. (Betty) of Bentonville, Ark., and Natalie Hart of Waleska, Georgia; three grandsons, Ronnie Weatherhead, Justin Davis, and Matthew Davis; two sisters, Dorothy Morse (Don) of Hartford, Michigan, and Connie Mamiaci (Joe) of Bakersfield, Ca.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ellerslie United Methodist Church.
