Parents had a chance to learn alongside their children as Sister Lakes Elementary hosted its annual Family Learning Night Thursday evening.

After a family dinner, parents listened to math consultant Melissa Rescoe talk about how math has changed with the common core and what parents need to know in order to help their child with math homework. Rescoe had parents participate in various math activities during the night. She answered various questions and concerns from parents about helping their child at home with math homework.

Students enjoyed an evening playing educational math games donated by Everything Educational from Three Rivers. Everything Educational holds game nights at area schools throughout the year. High school volunteers Marissa Meza, Victoria Villegas, Andrea Martinez, Magali Cruz and Magali Carrillo and other Sister Lakes staff spent the evening showing Sister Lakes students how to play each game at the various game tables. The evening concluded with every family going home with a free educational game to play as a family at home provided by Sister Lakes Title 1 Parent Involvement Funds.
