The way-finding signs scattered across Dowagiac appear a little more lively than usual, thanks to the city, school district, and, most importantly, the artistic talents of a dozen local students.

In spite of the blowing snow, crews installed 12 pieces of enlarged student-made art on the back of the giant signs located throughout the city. These pieces of art were selected from a pool of submissions given to the city through a recent contest set up with district art teacher Dean Hill.

Winning students were:

Annabelle Wheeler, 12, seventh grade

Sophia Stockwell, 16, 10th grade

Jordan Ludwig, 17, 12th grade

Devin Jewell, 14, ninth grade

Hanna Ruff, 16, 10th grade

Heather Kiggans, 18, 12th grade

Katerina Evans, 18, 12th grade

Katie Murphy, 17, 12th grade

Emily Demeter, 16, 10th grade
