Brandywine grabs share of BCS Red title

COMSTOCK — The Brandywine boys basketball team earned a share of the BCS Athletic Conference Red Division championship Friday night with a hard-fought 53-50 win over host Comstock.

The Bobcats will share the Red Division title with Bridgman, which defeated Berrien Springs in overtime Friday night.

It is Brandywine’s first conference championship since 1997.

The Bobcats led at every quarter break and took a 38-34 lead into the final eight minutes of play.

Hunter Slaughter scored a game-high 20 points for Brandywine, which also got 13 points from Vinny Peel and 11 points from Austin Knapp.
