Three people are in custody following a pair of drug busts by the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team Saturday in Dowagiac and Mason Township, according to a release by the local task force.

According to police, a 47-year-old man was arrested on that day following the execution of a search warrant by the team at a residence in the 300 block of Cass Avenue, under suspicions that drug use was occurring inside the home. During the search, detectives found several items that indicated the suspect was using cocaine — a subsequent search of the suspect himself found that he had several small baggies of cocaine on him.

Two other people were arrested in another search conducted by the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team that day, this time at a residence located in the 68000 block of Kessington Road in Mason Township. A 47-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were arrested at the home after police discovered methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia at the location.

The names of all three suspects are being held until their arraignment in Cass County court.

The arrests follow a pair of arrests made by CCDET detectives last week in Wayne and Calvin townships, where law enforcement discovered the presence of two methamphetamine labs.

Police continue to investigate Saturday’s incidents. Anyone with information regarding this case or any other criminal activity is asked to call the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 1-800-462-9328 or contact the Sheriff’s Office through the Anonymous Web Tip Line at www.ccso.info
