Martha L. DeShazo, 83, of Hampstead, Maryland, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

A Celebration of Life Service will begin at noon Thursday, Feb. 25 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Private burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan. Martha was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to George & Pauline (Smith) Bobos. On March 1, 1950, she married James M. DeShazo in Chattanooga. Martha owned and operated The Marshall Shoppe in downtown Dowagiac for 18 years, when in 1991 she sold to her daughter Susan. Martha enjoyed golf, playing cards, cooking and the time spent with her family and friends.

Martha is survived by three daughters-Terry (Steve) DeShazo-Hilliard of Cassopolis, Brenda (Jim) Boudreau of Hampstead, Maryland, Susan Kazlauskas of Dowagiac; six grandchildren-Adam & Jacob Bushong, Hannah & Chloe Boudreau, James (Mindie) Kazlauskas, Laura (Marc) Messina; four great-grandchildren-Mason & Hunter Bushong, Josie Kazlauskas, Marla Messina; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim on May 19, 1995, her great-granddaughter Maggie Sue Kazlauskas on June 11, 2011, her son-in-law Edward A. Kazlauskas on Feb. 13, 2016, & her sister Virginia Bobos Gilham in 1995.
