Students and employees at Lake Michigan College will have the opportunity to learn about how saving money can positively impact their financial future during America Saves Week from Feb. 22 to 26 at the college’s Napier Avenue campus.

With its “Start Small. Save Big,” campaign, America Saves Week encourages individuals and families to pledge to save money, reduce debt, and build wealth by making small changes in their financial habits. Those who take the pledge, which is available at americasaves.org, can receive helpful tips to help them stick to their plans and achieve their savings goals.

A special America Saves event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24 in the Hawk’s Nest student events center. Snacks will be provided, and students and employees will be able to sign up for the pledge and share what they are saving for through photographs that will be posted to social media.

In addition, helpful savings tips will be posted to the Lake Michigan College Facebook page throughout the week. Anyone in the community may visit the college’s Facebook page and learn ways to save and build wealth.

“’America Saves Week’” is a great way for students to learn how saving even a small amount can quickly add up. It really demonstrates the power of saving money and as a result, taking control of their financial future,” said Nancy Johnson, Director of TRiO Student Support Services at Lake Michigan College. “LMC employees are also encouraged to save because it’s always good to learn additional ways to save money,” she added.

America Saves Week is managed by the Consumers’ Federation of America. Further information is available at americasaves.org. Questions about America Saves Week at Lake Michigan College may be directed to Johnson at (269) 927-6848, or johnsonn@lakemichigancollege.edu
