The Cassopolis Public Schools are expanding its already successful alternative and adult education program.
According to Cassopolis Superintendent Tracy Hertsel, the district is making sure that a qualified teacher is there every night to help teach the core subject areas.
The classes run Monday through Thursdays.
“We are making sure we have a math teacher there one night, an English teacher there a night, science and then social studies,” he said. “Therefore it is giving the kids a better opportunity to get one on one or one on two maybe as far as highly qualified teaching, which is really helping the program.
“We are expanding to a point where we are picking up Odysseyware, which is an online program, but it offers a lot more options to kids as far as class offerings go. It can give them a combination of being online and working with an instructor. It gives them both options.”
Hertsel said a lot of kids and adults come back to work on completing their education.
To help with that, the alternative and adult education classes are available 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
