CASSOPOLIS — Still looking to improve this season and get on the right track for the beginning of the MHSAA tournament, Cassopolis hosted Bridgman in a BCS Athletic Conference crossover Tuesday night.

Using a 13-5 run in the final 5:55 of the fourth quarter, the Rangers took the buzz out of the Bees 40-38.

With a later than normal start to the varsity game because of a junior varsity injury in the prior game, the Rangers got off to a slow start as the Bees quickly jumped out to a 7-0 lead.

Two of Telayah Coats’ three 3-pointers later, the Rangers took the lead an 8-7 with a couple of minutes left in the first quarter.

The Bees led 13-10 after one and the Rangers would trail until the fourth quarter.

Continuing to struggle in the second quarter, the Rangers found themselves down by 10 at halftime, 26-16.

Cassopolis was able to close the gap to 28-25 after three and outscored Bridgman 15-10 in the fourth quarter for the win.

“I am very happy with how things played out tonight,” Cassopolis coach Nat Pittman said. “The girls kept fighting, it’s a good thing to build off of with districts coming up.”

Cassopolis will face Bridgman one more time. The matchup will be Feb. 29 at the Hive in Bridgman in the first round of the Class C Districts.
