Woman dies in head-on crash on US-12

A 55-year-old Galien woman is dead after a head-on collision on US-12 in Bertrand Township Thursday morning.

Luann Woodrick was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital in South Bend due to blunt force trauma, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:47 a.m. on West US-12 near Sage Road, southwest of the city of Buchanan.

A vehicle driven by Jeffery Norman, 52, of Granger, Indiana, was heading west on US-12. Woodrick was driving east on US-12.

The sheriff’s department is reporting that one of the vehicles crossed the centerline and hit the other vehicle head on.

Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles with help from the Bertrand Township and Niles Township Fire Departments.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment. Norman had minor injuries.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department is investigating this incident.
