Slow start dooms Niles girls team

RICHLAND — A slow start was too much to overcome for visiting Niles as it dropped a 53-43 decision to Gull Lake in SMAC girls basketball Tuesday.

Niles trailed 29-11 and 42-24 heading into the fourth quarter before rallying in the final eight minutes.

Emily Gaines had 15 points for the Vikings who also got nine points from Antonia Palmer.

Lauren Nussbaum had a game-high 14 points for the Blue Devils.
