A few weeks before the holiday, fifth-grade students with Kincheloe Elementary created special Valentine’s Day cards for some of the country’s bravest citizens. Guided by retired district art instructor Bonnie Latourette, the students made cards that were sent to the Veterans Affairs hospital in Battle Creek. The former teacher also read to second-grade students with Brenda Wagner’s class that day.
