Athlete Showcase: Dowagiac’s Taylor Pye

Taylor Pye is a freshman on the Dowagiac girls basketball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest

accomplishments as an athlete?

TP: Making the varsity basketball team.

What has been one of your biggest

disappointments as an athlete?

TP: Not making most of my free throws.

What has been a hardship in your life?

TP: Trying to impress my family with my actions.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

TP: My dad, because he always pushes me harder to accomplish my goals.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

TP: At the tip-off of the game.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

TP: Forgetting the plays while on the court.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

TP: Working on my jump shots.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

TP: Track.

Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?

TP: My dad, because he’s always at my games cheering me on and he always corrects me on what I do wrong.

How would you give away $50,000?

TP: I would give it to the basketball program.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

TP: Notre Dame women’s basketball.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

TP: I would get a job.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

TP: Making my shots while the defender is on me.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

TP: Lane violation.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

TP: You played your heart out. Good job.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

TP: Starting my first varsity game. And yes.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

TP: Spin move jump shot.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

TP: 4-H, because I love being involved in extra-curricular activities.
