Ruth E. “Tootie” (Bright) Myers-Smith, 80, of South Bend, formerly of Niles, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at the home of her daughter, following an illness.

She was born on Dec. 5, 1935 in Niles to the late Donald and Jesse (Lintz) Bright.

On July 17, 1959 Ruth married Clarence Myers at a ceremony in Buchanan.

A homemaker most of her life, Tootie’s greatest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved her extended family at BINGO.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, three children; Connie Baxter, John “Red” McIntire and Timothy Eugene Myers, two brothers, Kenneth Bright and Porky McIntire, a sister, Donna Mae Clements and a great grandson, Jeremy “Peanut” McIntire.

She is survived by three sons; Larry Shreve of Berrien Springs, Robert Myers of North Liberty, Indiana, Timothy W. Myers of South Bend, two daughters; Evelyn Yahne of South Bend and Deloris (Jim) Pettie of Gallatin, Tennessee, 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren, as well as three brothers; her twin brother Donald Bright of Niles, Mike McIntire of Niles and Kenny McIntire of Mishawaka and a sister, Kathy McIntire of Arkansas.

A committal service will be on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at the Mission Hills Memorial Committal Chapel at 11 a.m.
