DELTA CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Pokagon Township (Cass County) Supervisor Linda Preston has been named immediate past president of the Michigan Townships Association (MTA).

“I want to thank the Association for the honor of allowing me to serve as president,” Preston said. “I have enjoyed helping townships to be recognized for the value of the services they provide, and ensuring that the voice of the people can be heard. It is my pleasure to continue serving on the MTA Executive Committee.”

Preston has served in township government since 1984, when she first ran for Pokagon Township clerk. She was elected and served in that position until 2004, when she was elected to her current position of supervisor. In 2005, she was elected to the MTA Board of Directors, where she represented township officials in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties as MTA District 22 director. In 2010, she was appointed to the MTA Executive Committee.

In addition to her involvement in township government, Preston has been involved with the Southwest Michigan Regional Planning Commission, Michigan Association of Regions, 4-H, Silver Creek United Methodist Church and Cass County Habitat for Humanity.
