Peter Dayson, 67, of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, in his home with his family by his side.

Pete was born on May 27, 1948, in Burt Lake, Michigan, to Joseph and Mary (Shenoskey) Dayson. On Sept. 11, 1971, he married his wife Donna (Wait). They have one son, James Dayson.

Pete was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. He worked at National Copper in Dowagiac until he retired.

He liked to watch college sports, especially University of Michigan football. His favorite pro team was the Detroit Lions. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing. Pete loved to go fishing with his family at the river in Berrien Springs and the pier at St. Joseph, Michigan.

Pete is survived by his wife, Donna and his son, James; two sisters, Dorothy (Tim) Von Destinon and Nancy Ortiz; one brother, Ted Dayson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parent’s, Joseph and Mary; two sisters, Marty Zalewski and Elaine Dayson and two brothers, Joseph Dayson and Richard Dayson.

According to his wishes, Pete will be cremated and there will be no services at this time. Donation can be made to Cass County Cancer Society, P.O. Box 676, Edwardsburg, MI, 49112 or to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
