Niles had no answers for Mattawan’s Brooke Ditto in the first half as the Wildcats picked up a 42-30 SMAC non-divisional girls basketball victory Monday night.

Ditto scored 18 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as the Wildcats (4-8) handed the Vikings (5-9) their sixth straight loss.

Ditto scores inside and connected on a pair 3-pointers as Mattawan built up a 26-11 halftime advantage.

The Vikings tried to get back into the contest in the second half, but were only able to slightly cut into the Wildcats’ advantage.

Niles trailed 36-23 heading into the fourth quarter and would get no closer than the 12-point final outcome.

Ditto was the lone Mattawan player to reach double figures in the make-up contest. Mackenzie Swinehart added eight points.

Emily Gaines scored 12 points to lead the Vikings, while Jazmin Brann finished with 11 points.
