Martha Ann (Leffel) Simmons, 83, of Niles, passed away at her home, with her family by her side, on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016.

She was born on July 22, 1932, to the late Rodney and Ann (Smith) Leffel in Logansport, Indiana.

Martha began work at Simplicity Pattern Company, where she worked in the offices for many years. On April 28, 1956, she wed the love of her life, Warren Simmons at a ceremony in South Bend; together they had five wonderful children. Martha enjoyed working her puzzles and playing BINGO. She use to love to bowl and hardly ever missed a sporting event that her children and grandchildren participate in. She loved to travel and visited many places over the years with her woman’s club from Simplicity and her children. Her family would like to thank all of her caregivers, especially Donna Kimbrell and her husband for loving and caring for her as their own family and Bev Keumin for her thoughtfulness and friendship to our mother for many years.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Warren.

She is survived by her children, Curtis Simmons (Linda Mashak) of St. Joseph, Michigan, James “Doug” Simmons of Niles, Cathy Young of Niles, Denise Simmons of Niles and Donald Simmons of South Bend; grandchildren; Samantha Simmons-Smith (Mario) of Traverse City, Michigan and Caleb Young of Niles; four great grandchildren, a brother Donald Leffel of Mishawaka and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with a time of visitation beginning two hours prior. An interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.
