Squirrel Hunt set for Sunday

The third annual Hunter’s Rendezvous Squirrel Hunt will begin at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, with a mandatory meeting of all participants at the Dowagiac Conservation Club. Breakfast will be available starting at 7 a.m., with chili and hot dogs served for lunch at noon.

This is an opportunity to take a youngster hunting and to help cure a case of cabin fever.

Weigh-in will be at the conservation club at 4 p.m. sharp. Late arrivals will be disqualified.

Statewide hunting guidelines, with all applicable Michigan hunting rules and regulations, will be followed. This a rimfire rifle or handgun event. No shotguns allowed except for youths 14 and under. No dogs are allowed.

This is a two-person team event with an entry fee of $20 per team. Ten squirrel limit total weight will determine winners. Cash rewards and prizes will be given to winning teams, based on the number of entries.
