STEVENSVILLE — Southwestern Medical Clinic Christian Counseling and Psychological Services recently expanded their practice with the addition of three new care providers.

Kara Youngblood, TLPC, earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Andrews University. She enjoys working with children and helping young patients overcome issues related to anger, attachment, parent-child problems, and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In addition, she has experience working with adolescent girls, adults, and therapy groups.

Brittany Sommers, TLLP, earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Andrews University. She works with individuals of all ages, helping them to overcome concerns such as anxiety, depression, interpersonal problems, self-injury, suicidality, and trauma. She is specially trained in marital therapy and enjoys conducting behavioral, cognitive, and personality evaluations.

Lynda Bredeweg, MSW, earned a master’s degree in social work from Western Michigan University. She enjoys working with students with developmental disabilities and is actively involved with Young Life. She enjoys working with women, couples, and teenage girls who are dealing with anxiety and self-esteem issues.

“Each of our new providers completed their internship with Southwestern Medical Clinic and we are confident in their abilities to care for our patients — they are a welcome addition to our staff of caring mental health professionals,” said Marcia Wiinamaki, PsyD, director of Christian Counseling and Psychological Services. “All of our therapists are trained at the master’s degree level and beyond and are licensed by the state of Michigan in their respective disciplines.”
