Bernice Marie Fecho, 86, of Eau Claire, passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, where she was a lifelong member and active in the Ladies’ Aid Society. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at Bowerman Funeral Home, Eau Claire, and leave online messages at www.bowermanfuneral.com. Donations in her memory may be made to the church or to Hospice at Home.

Bernice was born Sept. 26, 1929, in Apollo, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert E. and Mary Ethel (George) Christy. She graduated from Berrien Springs High School, and she had worked as a dietician for Berrien General Hospital. She was an accomplished artist, and she enjoyed crocheting, reading, and making quilts. She loved old-time gospel music and the Lawrence Welk Show on Saturday evenings, and she enjoyed going to Florida in the winter.

Survivors include three sons, Richard (Vicki) and Ronald of Eau Claire, and Joseph (Patti) of Dowagiac; two daughters, Viva “Nan” Casler of New Port Richey, Florida, and Mary (Jeff) Zerrenner of Eau Claire; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Dale “Bob” Christy of Benton Harbor and Lyle (Marianna) Christy of Clarksville, Tennessee; and a sister, Darlene Christy of Spring Hill, Florida.

She was preceded in death in 2002 by her husband, Ralph, whom she married in Eau Claire on Dec. 2, 1950; a grandson, Nathan Zerrenner; two sisters, Viva Spilger and Virginia Howe; and her parents.
