Feb. 5, 1945 — Dec. 12, 2015
Mary Louella Eversoll, 70, of Dowagiac, formerly of Cassopolis and Three Rivers, died peacefully Saturday evening, Dec. 12, 2015, in Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis.
She was born February 5, 1945 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Otto and Nancy (Brewer) McKee. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marie Newton, Phyllis McKee, Mildred Bass; and three brothers, Billy John McKee, Afton John McKee and Alvie Lewis McKee.
Mary will be remembered for her loving kindness. Whether stranger or friend, it was her way to speak to everyone. If she could make someone’s day, just by saying “Hello,” she would do it. Mary was an avid quilter. She gave them to everyone in her family and would donate them for any good cause or need. She sold some quilts to raise money to buy the materials to make more quilts.
Mary was very, very organized, neat and tidy, down to the last detail. If she didn’t have anything to do, she would find something to do that usually involved cleaning and organizing something. She was also the mastermind behind the family reunions.
Mary will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Kelly, Dawn (husband, Eric) Peterson, both of Cassopolis; eight grandchildren, Joshua Cooper of Franklin, Ohio, Gary Kelly, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan, Michael Downey, II, of Cassopolis, Dusten (wife, Stephanie) Downey of Niles, Kelsey Kelly of Cassopolis, Zachary Downey of Niles, Lillian Peterson, Maren Peterson; seven great grandchildren, Isaac Cooper, Zapheria Downey, Bryce Cooper, Astrid Schreur, Jayce Cooper, Carter Kelly, Collin Kelly; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, many of whom she loved as her own children.
Family and friends will gather Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, from 3 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with the Pastor Steve Miller officiating.
Mrs. Eversoll will be laid to rest in Poe Cemetery in Jones, Michigan.
